Car Rider Procedures
· Please drop your child off on the west side of the building.
· No longer walk your child to his or her classroom.
· Tardy bell rings at 7:35 am. Any student arriving to school after 7:35, must be accompanied by an adult to the office to get a tardy slip.
If your children are crossing the street, PLEASE find a place to PARK to allow your child to get out of the car and safely proceed to the crosswalk. It is NOT PERMITTED for you to stop in the middle of the road to let your child out of the car. Not only is this extremely unsafe for your child, it is also a hindrance
to the flow of traffic.
Please also keep in mind that left turns are not permitted out of the parking lot. This also greatly disrupts the flow of traffic in the mornings.
· Please DO NOT arrive on campus prior to 2:55 pm.
Buses will exit the premises before car riders are dismissed.
· Please remain in your vehicle during pick up.
· All students whose parents remain in the car line will be released BEFORE students whose parents walk to the front door.
Currently the police department has allowed me to maneuver traffic around cars waiting to turn right into the parking lot for pickup. This works well when there are a limited number of cars that arrive before the line begins moving. From now on, cars will not be allowed to wait in line beyond Bills Ave. When the line gets longer than this, it is too difficult to maneuver through traffic around you. The more parents arrive after the car rider lines begin moving, the easier traffic flows and
the less time you are kept waiting.
PLEASE keep in mind that on rainy days, afternoon car rider dismissal is delayed. Buses generally take longer to load; and at times, will load one at a time under the awning. If you notice that it's raining, please delay your usual time of arrival on campus by about 10 minutes. Otherwise, a good number of you will be asked to drive around until the car rider line begins moving.
Also, please keep in mind on 60% days, buses dismiss at 11:40 am, and car riders do not begin dismissing until 11:55 am.
It is never my desire to send parents circling around the school, but I have been asked by the police department to keep the road clear so that emergency vehicles are able to get through. Please also be aware that I have been asked by the police department to turn in the license plate numbers of cars who continually disregard the rules.
Thank you for your cooperation!
For the safety of our students, please DO NOT talk or text on your cell phone while you are in the car rider line in the mornings or in the afternoons. Your cooperation in this matter will definitely help us keep our students safe.
